Beijing Badaling National Forest Park is a great place to feel the real colors of Beijing autumn. The dazzling autumn-leaves perfectly illuminate the Great Wall of China during this time.
The park is located between the Badaling and Juyongguan Great Wall. It has a total area of 4.4 hectares with its highest peak reaching 1238 meters.
With a total distribution of over 539 different kinds of plants and 158 kinds of animals, the park became China’s first internationally certified ecological forest area by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).
The Badaling National Forest Park is full of amazing colors during autumn. There are several types of dazzling autumn leaves such as Acer truncatum (Shantung Maple or Purpleblow Maple) and Acer truncatum (commonly known as Acer mono) as well as some wild animals.

When you go to Badaling National Forest Park, there are some main attractions or scenic spots you should visit. Some of them have been discussed below.
Wang Long Tai (望龙台- Wàng lóng tái)
This is the place to enjoy the bird’s-eye view of the Badaling Great Wall in its full glory. You can experience the full range of the Great Wall and its profound cultural significance. This spot has a rock with the inscription: “He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true man.” This is a popular Chinese saying which means a true man can overcome any difficulties and reach his aim (after climbing the Great wall).The place is about 745 meters away from the park entrance and takes about 20-30 minutes of climbing.

Maplewood (枫林- Fēng lín)- 795 meters away from the park entrance
Lan Yue Tai (揽月台- Lǎn yuè tái) – 1900 meters away from the park entrance.
Chi Dao (赤道- Chìdào) – 920 meters away from the park entrance.
Chibi (赤壁- Chìbì) – 1350 meters away from the park entrance.
Foshou Valley (佛手谷- Fóshǒu gǔ)- 1600 meters away from the park entrance.
Fire Watchtower (防火瞭望塔- Fánghuǒ liàowàng tǎ) – 845 meters away from the park entrance.
Experience Center (体验中心- Tǐyàn zhōngxīn) – This is where you can rest and make yourself comfortable. It covers an area of 450 hectares, divided into indoor and outdoor museum experience route. Indoor museum building has a total of four exhibition halls, an auditorium, a sequence hall, and with a restaurant, offices, emergency rooms and so on. There is also an art laboratory which has a total of 13 exhibition centers and 42 exhibition items.
Directions- how to get to Badaling National Forest Park
- From Deshengmen (德胜门- Dé shèng mén) take bus number 877 and get off at the last stop. From the stop, you have to walk about 15 minutes before you get to the park. It takes about more than an hour for Bus 877 to get to the last station. Ticket is 12 Yuan.
- You can also take Bus 919 from Deshengmen to Badaling (八达岭站Bādálǐng zhàn). This route is longer than bus 877. You also have to walk about 30-40 minutes to the park.
